Compress PDF online
Reduce PDF file size online for free and without quality loss. Add one or more documents: they are processed directly in the browser, are not uploaded to a server, and keep text, links, and page quality.
Files are not uploaded to a server. Compression runs in your browser.
How to compress PDF online
- Step 1

Add one or more files with the button or drag them into the workspace.
- Step 2
Choose a mode
The recommended mode is safe for most documents.
- Step 3
Compress PDF
Processing runs sequentially in a separate Web Worker.
- Step 4
Download the result
Download each PDF separately or all results as a ZIP archive.
Compression modes
All modes keep pages without rasterization. “High quality” keeps metadata, while the recommended and strong modes remove metadata and optimize the document structure.
Browser processing limits
Scanned and already optimized PDFs may barely shrink. Password-protected documents are not supported. The maximum size of one file is 200 MB; available memory depends on the device and browser.
Frequently asked questions
Are files uploaded to a server?
No. PDFs are read and rebuilt locally in your browser. Packlet does not receive file contents or file names.
Which documents can I compress?
The tool currently supports PDF files only. DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX are not accepted.
Why did a PDF become larger after compression?
The file may already be optimized. Packlet shows the increase honestly and lets you download the original or try another mode.
Can I compress several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add multiple PDFs: they are processed sequentially, then you can download them separately or as one ZIP archive.
Is quality reduced?
The current engine safely rebuilds the document structure without rasterizing pages, so images and text do not lose quality.
Why does a large PDF fail to compress?
Processing depends on available device memory. Close extra tabs or try a smaller file; the per-file limit is 200 MB.
Can I compress DOCX or PPTX?
Not yet. To keep results predictable and preserve document structure, only PDF is supported.
